About Us

The Gardens at Calvary and The Green House at Calvary are ministries of Calvary Baptist Church. 

In 1908 Calvary Baptist Church was established in central Columbus.  In 1976 we purchased 40 acres on the north end of town where there was virtually nothing other than a few scattered neighborhoods.  Since that time Calvary has purchased another 15 acres to establish Calvary Ministries.  As the church grew many younger families with children joined.  The church was also committed to providing for the needs of our senior adults.  For over two decades Calvary Baptist church has served senior adults in the Columbus area. Calvary Retirement Community and The Gardens at Calvary were born out of this commitment made in the mid 70’s. In 2007, we were blessed to open our Green House Memory Care Home.  We are excited to announce our second Green House at Calvary will begin construction in early this year.

As we serve each elder, we are mindful of two things:

• Each one is someone’s parent.  We will love and care for them as we would our own parents.
• As Jesus faced death on the cross, one of the seven statements He made was to ensure His mother was cared for by a believer, one of his followers.

The Care of our elders is our MINISTRY.  We are an extension of the love of Christ and of the church.

Every team members understands that they are a “minister”, not just an employee.  James wrote, “This is true and genuine religion, to care for the widows and orphans.”
